I have a couple of questions to the good people on this website.smile.png

Last year on 22 May 2014 my de facto wife was granted a one year multiple tourist visa. Before that she was able to get 3-months tourist visas in 2011, 2012 and 2013.

After she got the multiple entry one year tourist visa last year we went to visit Australia for nearly 3 months during July, August, September 2014. After that we came back to Thailand and stayed in our place in Jomtien. Her multiple entry tourist visa expires on 22 May 2015 in about 3 weeks time. My question is will she be able to visit Australia once more for another 2-3 months before the expiry date on 22 May 2015.

If she is allowed to do so, will it be possible for us to buy one way tickets from Thailand to Australia and then purchase one way tickets in Australia back to Thailand, when we decide to return to Thailand?

Thanks for any replies.

The answer is yes to both of your questions.

The visa is still valid so no problems entering and staying another

3 months.

She doesn't require a return ticket either. If questioned by Immigration,

she can just say you're not sure eactly what date you're going to return.

Will27, Thanks a million for your positive reply. it really put my mind at ease. I was especially worried about her getting to stay longer than the expiry date of her multiple entry visa after it expired on 22 May. I asked a similar question on a thread last year and David 48 said she would be allowed to stay another 3 months as long as she went back to Australia before the expiry date. I was concerned things might have changed since then, like they often do.

Anyway, I already bought a return ticket with Jetstar and we are leaving on the 16th of May to head to my home in Darwin. There are no direct flights to Darwin so we have to change to another Jetstar plane in Singapore, which leaves around midnight and gets us to Darwin at 5AM on the 17th of May. We don't mind the long wait in transit at Changi airport with its good facilities.

I actually tried to book a one way ticket with Jetstar, but ran into all sorts of problems. After several attempts with a slow computer connection, which kept timing out, I eventually got to the payment section and tried to pay for the tickets with my Kasikorn ATM Visa card. This time Jetstar would not accept payment with my Kasikorn ATM Visa, saying the card was not verified. I then tried my Australian Visa card and this time they wanted to know my account number and a 4 digit member number. I didn't know what that 4 digit number was as I don't have a 4 digit member number for my Aussie bank ATM Visa card. I am not talking about the 3 digit number on the back of the card, which is required as well. Again payment was refused.

I then tried in desperation one more time, this time going for a return ticket with a return date of 9th August, which would give us 86 days in Australia. After getting to the payments section, after getting timed out again twice, thanks to problems with their seat selection, which only worked erratically, making it hard to find two seats next to each other, When I got to the payments section I tried to pay again with my Aussie Visa ATM. When they asked for the 4 digit member number I typed in a number at random, which was accepted and I now have the itinerary for our return flight to Australia and back again. I have done dozens of online booking in the past and they could be done in 10 minutes or less. I probably spent more than 2 hours yesterday to make that booking. All is well that ends well, especially after you confirmed that the missus would be allowed to stay past her visa expiry date.smile.png

One more thing. I tried to ring the Australian Embassy in Bangkok. All I got was an automated voice telling me to contact VFS for visa questions or look at the www.immi.gov.au website or send an email. In the past I was always able to speak to a real person. We tried to ring VFS several times on their many numbers, but nobody seemed to be interested to pick up the phone. sad.png

Again, many thanks for your help.
