I'm on ED-Visas for quite a long time now and have stayed most at the time in the city where my language school is.

Now I would actually want to travel around thailand but I'm not sure if they would give me a multiple entry tourist visa since I've stayed here for over 4 years already.

Do they still issue triple or double tourists visas in laos or bali and do I have any chances to get it with my history of visas?

What kind of documents do they want nowadays? Do they need plane tickets, Hotel bookings?

Thanks for you help!

Thanks man. Appreciate it! So Laos it is.

Should I try to get a triple entry visa or is this a waste of time?

Judging from past posts receiving triple entries from neighboring countries are very difficult to nill . Double Entry is a sure bet. You can call the consulate in Laos for the facts on triples. +856 21 214 582

Laos has issued triple entries, BUT with only a 3 month validity, so you don't get any extra time - only useful if you are planning a trip in the middle.

I'm arriving in BKK next month on the first of a 3 entry tourist visa, from Melbourne flying Malaysia Airlines transit through KL. Will I require an outward ticket from BKK, or will a one way ticket be ok?

Since you hold a visa, a one-way ticket will be fine.

If you plan to do a 60 day entry and then a 30 day extension at immigrations for each of the three entries, ,make sure you keep an eye on the expiry date printed on the visa sticker. I assume it expires 6 months after it is issued (not 6 months from your first entry).

The first two entries could net you almost 6 months ( 60+30+60+30 days) and the second extension may give you permission to stay in Thailand past the visa expiration, but you still need to do the third entry before the actual visa expires.

Also keep in mind, youre no longer allowed to take a bus to do border visa runs and return on the same day.

You will need to fly out of the country, spend at least few days outside of Thailand, before returning.

I don't believe this is true. It is my understanding that you can certainly do a border run to activate another entry on a multi-entry tourist visa. And you can do it the same day as well. Perhaps you are thinking about back-to-back visa exempt entries?

As has been said, this is incorrect information.

Only at Sadao can there be a problem with leaving and re-entering the same day. (That border crossing is best to be avoided).

Definately b2b visa exempts wont be allowed but it's a gray area in terms of activating another entry on multi-entry tourist visa. Depending on the border personnel, there is room for interpretation.

It depends on the number of back to back entries and it not necessarily means you will be denied entry, but can be subject to questioning about your reason for staying in Thailand. (In essence they want to know if you are working illegally in Thailand or not).

Yes, I recall reading that thread 9 months ago and at the time there was a great deal of uncertainty about what precisely the changes were and how they would be implemented and enforced. I think subsequently it has been shown from members' experience that very few (if any) people holding multi-entry tourist visas have been denied re-entry into Thailand at a land border. Of course, I could have missed an account of that happening, but I honestly don't recall one.

The goal of that change as I understand it was to make it much more difficult (or impossible) to stay in Thailand for long periods of time using just visa exempt entries. The idea being that people were staying here for long periods of time and perhaps working illegally without having a work permit or a proper visa. The purpose of the change seemed to be to encourage people to apply for the correct visa to match their reason for being in the country. People were being encouraged to use tourist visas if they were indeed tourists who wanted to stay longer than the 30 day stay on a visa exempt entry.

It seems to me the OP (and owenm as well) is a genuine tourist and is using the multi-entry tourist visa for the purpose for which it was intended. If he is able to show an itinerary consistent with tourism, and is able to show the equivalent of 20,000 Baht in cash, I can't imagine he will be suspected of working in Thailand and denied entry at a land border. But as I've said I may have missed accounts of this happening and if so would like to be corrected.

Edit: I said OP above, but I really mean
