Not better then hiding stuff in the rafters though In my sordid past life ...I would put my wallet in one shoe...lift the bed, and put one leg of the bed on top of the wallet...in the shoe. Babies..less than two...would crawl into some of the hotel rooms (mid seventies in the philippines)...while you were busy with their bar hooking mom. They were taught to pick pockets from clothes on the floor. Usually the lights went off first. I had no idea..until I caught one. Yep...those kind of girls........(my military days long gone). I have since, reformed, and am living a ridiculous, monk like, life with a decent lady. Miss the dark side....but no way will I go through all that again.
