Police-AMLO team seize second house owned by UFUN suspect

BANGKOK: -- POLICE officers and officials from the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) yesterday seized a house owned by a Thai suspect in the UFUN Store's alleged pyramid scheme along with Bt200,000 cash and three electronic devices for further inspection.

Pol Colonel Angkul Klaikleung, deputy chief of the Consumer Protection Police Division, led the police-AMLO team yesterday morning to search the two-storey house in Bangkok's Klong Sam Wa district. The house allegedly belonged to Apichanat Saenkla, 40, who is already in custody, but was occupied by his brother Kittisak Patthong, his sister-in-law and his father.

Kittisak would not let members of the media enter the premises yesterday.

Police believe that Apichanat might be looking after the technological side of things for UFUN.

Neighbours told reporters that Apichanat, along with his wife and son, had been living in a house next door for the past five years. That house was also searched last month, but wasn't impounded, as it was not deemed an ill-gotten asset.

The neighbours told reporters that for the past eight months, people in luxury cars visited Apichanat often and six months ago he bought the second house. They also said Apichanat had five luxury cars parked at the house, but they disappeared after he was arrested on April 10.

Angkul said the house was raided because its title deed was found in a safe at Apichanat's home.
