Lite Beer
Huge fire at Ang Thong plastic recycling factory BANGKOK: -- A huge fire at a plastic recycling factory in Phothong district of Ang Thong province broke out Friday night and raged for almost seven hours before it could be kept under control before dawn Saturday. The fire happened at about 8.00 pm at Phothong Recycle Partnership’s recycling plant which is located in an open space covering about 10 rai of land.Witnesses said the fire started first at a huge pile of recycling plastic near the plant building and quickly spread because it was fanned by winds as the factory stands solely in open field with no other building or residential areas nearby. As the fire raged fiercely, more than 30 fire trucks from neighbouring provinces of Singburi, Ayutthaya and Suphanburi were asked to join in fighting the blaze with the fire trucks from Ang Thong. The fire engulfed two warehouses of the factory before it was kept under control at dawn Saturday.Ang Thong governor Pavin Chamniprasart who inspected and directed the fire fighting last night said the recycling factory purchased used plastic products for recycling. He said the fire has destroyed all its recycling plastics.Forensic police were inspecting the factory to find out the cause of fire this morning.
