Motorcyclist Killed After Crashing into Concrete Post and Plunging into Canal in Phatthalung
Picture from responders. A man believed to be in his 40s has died after he lost control of his motorcycle and struck a roadside concrete post, causing him to be flung into a drainage canal in Phatthalung Province early morning on 7 April. At approximately 07:30, Pol. Sub Lt. Prasert Duang-iad of Mueang Phatthalung Police Station, along with Phatthalung rescue workers, responded to a fatal road crash on Chai Buri Road, Village 11, Khao Chieak Subdistrict. Upon arrival, authorities discovered a Yamaha Fino motorcycle, registration from Phuket, lying in the roadside canal. The rider, an unidentified Thai male, was found submerged in the water. Rescue workers recovered the body, noting a significant head injury believed to have been caused by the impact with a concrete post. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, having likely drowned after being knocked unconscious. Mr. Kamnueng, 68, a security guard at a nearby herbal products factory, told police that he heard the sound of a crash and rushed out to investigate. “I saw the man lying motionless in the water. I called out to him, but he didn’t respond. That’s when I called the rescue team and police,” he said. Preliminary investigations suggest the motorcycle was travelling at high speed before the rider lost control, veered off the road, and hit a concrete post. The force of the impact likely caused him to be thrown into the canal where he drowned. Police checked the vehicle registration and found it belonged to a resident of Nong Khai Province. However, no local residents recognised the victim, and his identity remains unknown. Authorities are now working to confirm the deceased’s identity and contact his relatives. Further investigations are ongoing. -- 2025-04-08 -

Thanks to Donald, finally we know.
Errrrr. Robotics are closer than you think. Trump's drive to return manufacturing to the US will result in largely automated factories in the US. The technology exists but needs a push to be made reality. Eastern standard of living will not improve, but western standard of living for all but the wealthy will decline to match theirs. IMO. -

American Tourist Dies in Phuket After Night Out Drinking with Friends
Picture courtesy of Phuket Police. A 22-year-old American tourist from Washington State has died in Phuket after returning to his hotel in the early hours of the morning, reportedly unwell and vomiting following a night of drinking with friends. The young man had been staying at the Rabbit Hotel, located near the old bus station (Phuket Bus Terminal 1) on Phang Nga Road, alongside his girlfriend, a Myanmar national. According to police, the American left the hotel on the evening before, to meet up with friends for drinks. He returned at approximately 04:30 on 6 April, visibly ill and vomiting. His concerned girlfriend immediately contacted emergency services, and he was rushed to Vachira Phuket Hospital. Despite efforts to save him, he was later pronounced dead. The incident was formally reported to Phuket City Police Station at around 07:00 that morning. Police have since launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the tourist’s death. Investigators are currently awaiting the results of a forensic medical examination to establish the exact cause of death. At present, police have not yet identified any foul play in connection with the case. Authorities have not released the man’s name, pending notification of next of kin. The U.S. Embassy in Bangkok has been informed to assist with repatriation and further consular matters. -- 2025-04-08 -

The current system is IMO corrupt and rotten to the core. It works by moving production to where they can most easily exploit the workers to make more profit. The whole rotten system would eventually collapse anyway, and if it's Trump that starts the collapse, it just happens to be now that it does collapse. Hopefully, after it's over and things return to "normal" they won't be like after 2008 and just carry on with the same old economic criminality, repackaged somewhat.
