Hi all sorry if this has been asked before but I cant seem to find any info on this. Just got my 1 year visa and was told that I have to report my address every 90 days. Now this is where it gets a bit fuzzy as the Thai immigration officer's english was not quite good. I am supposed to report in 90 days on August 1st. I think he said that if I do leave Thaliand anytime before August then my 90 day periods starts from whenever I return to Thailand again. eg. If i leave Thailand in july 1st and return 15th July , then I only need to report 90 days later on Oct 15th again. Did I get it right? Is there any any action i need to take? I also have a multiple entry permit already. Any info would be greatly appreciated ! Thank you.

Which "one year Visa" do you have ?

If this "Visa" was obtained from an immigration office it is likely to be an "extension of stay"(Not a Visa!)!

Sounds as though the Thai immigration officer explained the 90 day report process very well.

If you re-enter the kingdom on July 15th your reporting date would be Oct 12th as you report every 90 days not every 3 months.

Sounds like you have it pretty well correct Rara, the clock resets every time you enter the country.

By the way, any future extensions of stay you get will NOT count as a 90 day report, only the first is counted.

Yes. My bad. It was an extension of my Non Immigrant B visa to allow me to stay for a year .

Ok then my question is answered. Actually he wasnt that clear and I was half guessing thats what he meant. Just didnt wanna take any chances of breaking any laws by any miscommunication. I need to get my Thai up to scratch really fast. smile.png

With this that means if i leave thailand every month or so then I never need to make a 90 day report right? Cos I never stay up to 90 days straight in a stretch.

Thanks all for the prompt replies.

Exactly right. If you continually stay in Thailand fewer than 90 days at a time, then indeed you never need to make a 90 Day Report (because you will never have been in the country for 90 days).

You can think of it as having a 90 day counter. Entering (or re-entering) Thailand starts the 90 day counter at 1. Exiting Thailand stops the 90 day counter. Each day you remain in Thailand increments the 90 day counter by one day. If you exit the country before your 90 day counter reaches 90 days there's no problem, you're 90 day counter will be stopped by your exit before reaching 90 days and no 90 Day Report is needed. If you exit the country after your 90 day counter reaches 90 (without filing a 90 Day Report during the 7 day grace period following your due date) then you are subject to a fine of 2,000 Baht for failure to file a timely 90 Day Report. You will likely be fined the next time you have any business with the immigration office (apply for a new extension, apply for a re-entry permit, apply for a residence certificate, or file another 90 Day Report).

If for some reason you were to stay in Thailand for 90 days you would be obligated to make a 90 Day Report. Note: most immigration offices allow you (or your representative) to make your 90 Day Report at the immigration office between 15 days before your due date or 7 days after your due date (the late grace period). Many immigration offices allow you to mail in your 90 Day Report as long as it is received prior to your due date. Most immigration offices allow you to make your 90 Day Report online from 7 to 15 days before your due date, although this is a new process and is not working for everyone yet. Online filing of the 90 Day Report has worked for some and it is probably the easiest way to comply with the requirement. I recommend doing it as early as you can (15 days before your due date) because if the attempt is unsuccessful you still have the possibility of filing by mail, or at least filing in person (or having a representative file in person for you).
