Chonlatee and Krittameth were arrested in less than three hours.

PHUKET: -- One army private, and a second man who had just completed military service were arrested in Cherng Talay for robbery yesterday (May 4).

Cherng Talay police arrested Private Chonlatee Kohleg, 23, from Cherng Talay who is based at the Praya Intira Military Base in Pattani, and Krittameth Jampada, 23, from Nakorn Sri Thammarat for robbing a tour guide earlier in the day.

At 8:50pm yesterday, Cherng Talay police were called to investigate an incident where two men who had robbed Saran Shairloo in a soi near the Cherng Talay OrBorTor office.

Mr Saran was able to give descriptions of the suspects and the vehicle used in the robbery and police were able to find the incident on CCTV footage.

At 11:20pm the suspects were apprehended at a roadside gasoline pump on Sri Soonthon Rd, and when searched police found the B540 in cash, a True mobile phone, two bags, a Hemtec radio communication device which had been reported stolen by Mr Saranon. Police also seized the Honda Click motorcycle used in the robbery.

Thew police were told that Chonlatee and Krittameth had used pieces of wood and a metal pipe to assualt and threaten Mr Saran before robbing him of his possessions.

Chonlatee and Krittameth have admitted to the robbery and are to be charged with robbery at night time using a getaway vehicle.
