where in AU non imm o based on retirement.

Featured Replies

I'm again sorry for bothering the mods with questions asked by others. Last Jan I attempted a non mom oa and rejected because...docs not bound. (Despite email from them that bound was not required). I am currently on multiple tourist visa. Aware I can convert. However going back Melbourne in December. Wanted to apply via post for non imm o. Brisbane was my best option. Now closed. Other consulate sites not seem to offer non imm o based on retirement. Also you can't trust em. Melb consulate states they do but when you apply they say ....that was a long time ago. When you politely ask if web site could possibly updated....they say ....not our business.

Any ideas. Not really wish to go bkk imm.

I'm over 50 have the bank account ...house book etc.

At my wits end

That post is a little difficult to understand

A single entry NON "O" visa would be easily obtained from one of the Australian Hon. Thai Consulates

If the AUS people really "cannot be trusted" then a single entry "NON "O" visa can be obtained from Vientiane

Attendance at a Thai immigration office will be required if you wish to obtain a one year "extension of stay" based on retirement

Thanks NZexpat. I have asked two questions recently and you have responded.

Would be nice to obtain one while in AU as going there in Dec. Seems strange to me I can apply in Vientiane and so hard in AU. Melbourne population about 4 million and Australia high on tourists to the lovely Thailand. I don't follow. Also can't understand why it's possible from some countries and not others. Geeeezuus

The Thai consulate in Vientiane would not accept your application for a non-O/A visa.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

You should check with the consulates in Perth, Adelaide or Hobart to see if they will do a single entry non-o visa.

Apparently the embassy in Canberra may have dictated that the consulates are not allowed to issue non-o visas for being 50 or over. It seems they want people to apply for the OA visa that only they or the consulate in Sydney can issue,

You can get a single entry non-o in Vientiane or Penang if you can show 800k baht in a Thai bank or proof of 695k baht income or a combination of the 2 totaling 800k baht.
