TAT to organize road shows in Turkey

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will organize road shows in Turkey to promote tourism in Thailand to the country members of the European Union (EU).

The TAT Governor, Mrs. Juthamas Siriwan (จุฑามาศ ศิริวรรณ), said the visit of Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Somkid Jatusripitak(สมคิด จาตุศรีพิทักษ์) to Turkey will help strengthened the bilateral relations between the government and the private sector of Thailand. Both sides will negotiate over the country’s tourism plans. She said the TAT will organize two main events, namely Thailand Sales Seminar and Product Briefing, in three major locations of Turkey, including Istanbul, Ankara and Antalya. The events will be held between during September 8th and 13th, 2006.

Mrs. Juthamas said tourism operators from Phuket (ภูเก็ต) and Pattaya (พัทยา) will be invited to join the road shows as many Turkish people are interested to visit both destinations. She added that Turkey has a potential for economy growth and the country will join the EU next year. Mrs. Chutamas said it is a good opportunity for Thailand to promote its tourism through Turkey which will expand into European market.

The TAT Governor said that number of tourists has increased in the Turkish market, and it is deemed a new market for Thailand. She disclosed that the TAT will also negotiate with the Turkish Airline to support tourism market for both countries
