nabbie
Hi, I currently have an inexpensive Thai health insurance that may cover well if I choose local hospital (Thai) instead of International. Is it just good practice to make a registration at my preferred local hospital now before anything will happen?
Sheryl
It saves time, and is easily done. However I would caution that your "inexpensive Thai insurance" may very well not be enough in case of a catastrophic illness or injury, even using only government hospitals. It is possible to run bills exceeding 1 million baht for a single event if you need specialized surgeries and prolonged ICU care, for example. And if what you mean by a local Thai hospital is a private hospital catering to Thais and not the international market, it can run to several million baht in those.
