Non Immigrant O A visa muli entry questions

Featured Replies

Firstly I apologise if this has been answered before, I did try searching and my head is now swimming with confusion.

So, I have received in Australia a Non Immigrant O A multi entry visa which will be activated when I arrive in June. My understanding is at this point my passport should be stamped with the expiry/departure date. I will also have to report to immigration every 90 days. My confusion is that I will be returning to Australia for a short period after the first 90 days period then returning Thailand. Is there a time limit to how long I can be out of Thailand and do I have to do anything to activate the multi entry side of the visa. I would hate to leave then when returning find the visa had been cancelled on my departure.

Thanks in advance for any help.....so confused......

You have to do nothing if you return until the "ENTER BEFORE" date on your visa (likely some date in May 2016? can you specify please).

You can leave and reenter during this time period whenever and how often you like.

At every entry you will get an "ADMITTED UNTIL" stamp (allowed to stay) for another year.

Note:

when filling the "Departure Card" before entering don't forget to write down the visa number and fingerpoint to the visa when handing the passport to the immigration officer.

After passing the checkpoint check the stamp!

"Nothing": if you stay longer than 90 days you have to report to the Thai immigration office of course.

If you reenter the 90 day period restarts from the day of entry (day 1).

Thanks for prompt reply. My visa is marked enter before a date in May 16as you mentionedm I will arrive as stated, June 15 and need to depart in September at the end of the first 90 day period. Am I correct in understanding you say if I then return to Thailand in say November they will stamp my passport with a 12 month departure date again irrespectuve that I activated the visa in June.

Yes, when you return in November 2015 you will get another stamp until November 2016.

But if you intend to leave after May 16 2016, then you have to apply for a so called "re-entry" permit to keep the last ADMITTED UNTIL alive.

(I can tell you because I used a Non O-A myself. With just one exit/entry you can reach two (!) years of trouble free stay).

I will arrive as stated, June 15 and need to depart in September at the end of the first 90 day period

Just make sure that you counted correct. Date of entry = day 1, report due on day 90 (89 days later).

If you leave at least one day before, all OK.

(its generally not a big deal to miss a 90 day report, just a fine)

You have a multiple entry non-oa visa that allows unlimited one year entries for one year from the date it was issued. When you return in November you will be stamped in for another year.

As long as you leave on or before 90 days from the date you enter the country you will not need to do a report of staying longer than 90 days in the country.
