Applying for work visa within Thailand

Featured Replies

Hi there,

my partner and I have entered Thailand on a visa waiver, or exemption which lasts 30 days.

He has been offered a job and the company have said they will help with visa but tot will cost £1100 pounds through their lawyers.

I was wondering if anyone has done the process of applying themselves, what were costs and requirements.

We have been informed that a non immigrant O visa is the first step?

Thanks in advance for any answers!

1100 UKPounds ? what a giant rip-off that must be. without knowing the details, I would stay clear of that company. Plus, a non-B would rather be the first step, not a non-O (even it can be done on a non-O too). But if it is a reputable company, they should easily be able to provide your partner with the paperwork to obtain a perfectly legal non-B.

Luckily, this Forum has quite a few members and MODs which are extremely knowledgeable when it comes to work permit and Visa questions.

I am sure they will make themselves heard soon

Hi, Thanks for your reply,

they are a massive, multi national company, i just think that as their employees are high earners they are used to

using and paying high legal costs.

we will go through them if need be, but would obviously prefer to do the process ourselves if it will be a bit cheaper,

As there is only 15 days left on his visa waiver, its a time sensitive issue smile.png

sorry, my mistake, is non immigrant B the correct one?

There is a lot more to it than getting a visa. The first step is to apply for a work permit and then then a non-b visa at a nearby embassy or consulate then a one year extension of stay.

They would be the ones that would supply all the supporting documents for the work permit, visa and extension.

The price they quoted sounds very high (about 57k baht at todays rate).

The 30 day visa exempt entry can be extended at an immigration office for a fee of 1900 baht.
