Question about Non Immigration B Visa and Workpermit

Featured Replies

Dear All,

I am new in Thailand and have some questions about my Non Immigration Visa B and my Workpermit.

I will resign my Workcontract. My Visa is running until 30 September 15. The same time my Workpermit.

My new job will be either in Krabi or on Samui Island.

The question is now, what do I have to do and what do I need, to get the new Visa for the next 365 days. Which papers do I have to show. The workpermit will be later that is not the problem, but the Visa. Do I have to leave the country, or can they do it at the Immigration?

Thank you very much for your help.

A B visa only allows an entry of 90 days so you must be on an extension of stay based upon working.

It is possible to change employers without leaving the country. But your new employer must apply for your new work permit prior to you the date your current job ends. This needs to be done so that you can apply for a new extension of stay when your current job ends. To apply for the extension you will need a work permit application approval letter.

You would cancel your current extension by showing a termination letter from your current employer and apply for a new one showing documents supplied by your new employer.

If you are going to be moving into a different area of the country and will have a different immigration office it would be difficult to do because you have to cancel your extension at the office that issued it and apply at the new office for a the new extension.
