Hi All,

Searched the threads high and low but didn't come away with a clear answer, hoping you may be able to help.

I am in the Kingdom at present on my first entry of a 60 day double entry tourist visa, expiration date 26th May. Last week I went and obtained a 30 day extension, putting my stay out to 25th June.

On the 25th May, I wish to visit Singapore for 4 days.

Do I require a Re-entry permit for my return to the Kingdom ?

I have assumed that my visa covers me for another entry, but just want to be sure.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

To keep your stay until 25th of June you will need a re-entry permit for 1,000 baht and a pass photo.

The big question is when does your visa expires, which you got from the Thai consulate. Your second entry must be made before that date or you lose it so you have to check if it will be worthwhile to get a re-entry permit or not.

Thanks Mario2008 for your post.

My visa has an expiration (enter before) date of 16th June 2015.

Does this play into not needing the Re-entry permit or is it still a requirement ?

It is still a requirement. But you must realize that you must make your second tourist visa entry no later than 16th of June or you lose the entry.

So you must decide if it is worth the money (1,000 baht) or simply enter again on your second entry and in that way lose some days but safe 1,000 for the re-entry permit plus another border run.

If you are in Singapore for 4 days, why don't you just go to the Thai Embassy on Orchard Road and get a 60-day, single entry tourist visa, which would eliminate any hassles about re-entry and allow you to stay in Thailand for another 60 days once you enter? Yes, it involves filling out some paperwork (which you can download from the Thai Embassy's website), and it cost me S$50, but it was done in two days. You can walk to the Thai Embassy from the Orchard MRT station. There are some decent restaurants in the Forum Mall nearby.

He does not need another tourist visa. He still has an entry remaining on his current visa.

Also the chances of him being able to get another visa in Singapore are almost 0 now. There have been several reports of them being denied if a person has just left Thailand.

I did this two years ago when I (unthinkingly) tried to enter Thailand on an O/A visa that I didn't realize had expired. So I entered on the usual 30-day upon-arrival tourist visa. Two days before it expired I went to Singapore and had not problem getting a 60-day, single entry tourist visa. But that was two years ago. If he decides to go that route, he could always call the consular section of the Thai Embassy there and inquire. I found them to be most helpful (I dealt with Singaporean staff, not Thais). I'm just thinking if he wants to stay in Thailand longer after re-entry here than his current visa allows, that would be one way to do it, unless the procedures have drastically changed.
