IOC observes Police Operations to control southern violence

YALA, 23 May 2015 (NNT) - Commissioner of the Southern Border Provinces Police Operation Center welcomed delegates of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) which visited Yala Province on Saturday to observe the violence situation in the South of Thailand.

At the meeting with the provincial police authorities, IOC representatives were presented with reports of the overall conflicts and violence in the region, followed by the progress of investigations supported by the use of forensic evidence in order to give fairness to all stakeholders.

According to the police, conflict situation in the South appeared to be better as violence rate has decreased considerably from the same period of last year.

The same day, IOC delegates visited the Peace Protection Center where suspects of the alleged charge against national security are detained. They observed process of interrogation and treats to detainees at all stages of the process until they are released if no guilty is found. During their observation, the IOC delegates asked many questions with interest.

Thereafter, the delegates moved to the Family Meeting Center and the Police Forensic Science Center 10 located in Muang Yala District before returning to Bangkok.

"According to the police, conflict situation in the South appeared to be better as violence rate has decreased considerably from the same period of last year."

Horse hockey!

Last weekend was no peaceful meditation meeting, and since they conytrol the figures they want nothing to do with facts.

I have to ask: How is it so many innocent people are killed, and the south is a democrat stronghold? Answer: they have been involved in vote buying that makes the Shinawtras look like saints!

This "dog and pony show" reminds me of an article "Gimmicks won't work in the South," by The Nation 2014-12-05 saying in part:

“Neither dictating peace terms to the insurgents nor buying them off have worked - Prayut must get serious about a sustainable solution”

“the implication is that Prayut cares more about his image than about the root cause of the conflict.”
