Human trafficking suspects to face transnational crime charges

BANGKOK, 24 May 2014 (NNT) - The police is preparing to press transnational crime charges against human trafficking suspects while trying to urgently conclude investigations by June this year.

Deputy Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police Pol.Gen. Ek Angsananont said police officers were working with prosecutors in Rohingya human trafficking cases which took place in the southern provinces of Songkhla, Satun and Ranong. They would meet on 25 May 2015 on progress of the investigations before forwarding the cases to the Attorney-General in June, he said.

46 human trafficking suspects who had been detained by the police would also face transnational crime charges since their offences had effect across national borders, the deputy police chief said. Most of them had confessed to their charges but the key suspects still denied the charges.

The police have so far issued arrest warrants to 77 people—46 were arrested and 31 are still at large. However, some of them have contacted the police to turn themselves in.

So does this additional charge mean more bribes to pay the police to get their freedom? Or, more big shots getting advanced warnings to flee just before the police arrive?

Thousands moving across boarders and held in camps, mass graves in at least two countries many stranded at sea. What sort of resources are required to pull this off?

46 arrested 31 on the run. Is that the best they can do!

BTW, what has happened to Ko Ton.

The headline answers the question I kept asking, being -- Why are no elite Thais arrested or charged, including Naval personnel that were implicated more than once by both foreign newspapers and Reuters, in addition to HRW ?

Answer: Transnational courts do not accept inactive posts as reparation, and the junta has no control over those courts.

What does it need to mean so you shut up and go away. rhetorical
