I just went to the CMU Vet with my new baby cat that is about 3 months old for his second round of standard vaccines...

They also recommended I get the Feline Leukemia vaccine on my next visit she said it was not required but recommended...

The strange part was that the vaccine is 200 baht but they must perform a test before the vaccine that cost 1,000 baht?...

What is the test for?... Why not just give the vaccine?

basically vaccine is weakened virus. if a sick animal is given vaccine, it will get sick and probably die. they want to make sure your kitten is healthy enough to receive the vaccine.

is he kept indoor? does he interact with other cats/animals? If he stays indoor and doesn't have access to directly/indirectly interact with other animals he has very slim chance of infection and may not need the vaccine.
