May 28, 201510 yr Is there a limit that an iPad 4 (16GB) can go on an iOS upgrade? With only about 3-4 small apps, FB been the biggest culprit consuming about 800MB the iPad 4 says no more memory to upgrade 8.1.3 Presently 8.1 is installed and only 430MB remaining! Only option available now is to buy a new model dumping around $ 7 - 800? Is it possible to go back to iOS 7 or even 6? If not, why did Apple not warn before the upgrade? Apple is unique indeed - or have I missed something?
May 28, 201510 yr if you only have 3 or 4 small apps delete them, do a factory restore and download them again after the restore and update on iTunes or over wifi. And no, you can't go back.
May 28, 201510 yr Author if you only have 3 or 4 small apps delete them, do a factory restore and download them again after the restore and update on iTunes or over wifi. And no, you can't go back. Thank you very much for your advice. Shall try this. I was thinking about it, but was a little worried that it might say not enough memory to update and brick it, or will be let with a device that cannot install a single app. The device is not mine, hence my hesitation!
May 28, 201510 yr You should just try to download the update through iTunes first, if you haven't already tried, without the restore. How big is the update?

June 5, 201510 yr Author Thank you very much for you advice. As I started my travelling, I still cold not try out any of the above. At least now I have a lead where to start from. Thank you very much indeed. Edit How much of space would iOS 8.1.3 consume after a factory reset? Has anyone done it on an iPad 4 (16GB)? Thank you.
