Police speak to passengers on Bus no. 75, whose driver was arrested after testing positive for narcotics on 28 May 2015.

BANGKOK – Police say they have arrested a public bus driver in Bangkok for driving under the influence of methamphetamine.

Police first received reports that bus No. 75 broke down near Krung Thep Bridge in Thonburi district this morning, causing a 1 km-long traffic jam, said Pol.Lt.Col. Chayan Benchathikul, a traffic police officer at Bukkhalo Police Station.

Upon arriving at the scene, police officers discovered that one of the bus’s wheels was misplaced, Pol.Lt.Col. Chayan said. The bus driver, Sombat Kankaew, 45, was also questioned.

According to Pol.Lt.Col. Chayan, the bus driver suddenly started acting "strangely like he was on drugs."

"So we decided to escort him to a traffic lights control booth at the intersection and asked for a urine test," the officer said. "He tested positive for narcotics uses."

Pol.Lt.Col. Chayan said Sombat confessed to taking a tablet of methamphetamine this morning because he did not get much sleep the night before.

Kudos to the BIB for taking the driver to a control booth for the urine test and not getting him to flop it out in front of the bus passengers.

Not sure if flopping it out is an appropriate description when discussing a Thai male's genitalia, but you get the picture.

And how the hell does one misplace a bus wheel? I suspect it's Thinglish for "the wheel fell off". blink.png

The guy with the silly grin needs a caption balloon so TVF posters can put in suggestions as to what he is thinking!

Something like:

But I don't know how to do it!

He was taking the yaa baa so that he could make those extra long cross-country hauls, making sure the shipments arrive on time?

This yaa baa bus driver certain explains the aggressive buses barreling into the other lane of traffic to get past slower cars.

The wheel had been missing all morning, all passengers told to sit on the left blink.png

on a more serious note - all public service vehicles - lorries mini vans - taxis should now be routinely stopped and drivers checked for drugs

Or

" Shit I'm high as a kite myself and the place is crawling with cops. Calm down, calm down. Act normal. Keep smiling. No that's too much! Tone it down a notch!"

Although the person sitting to the right of the police officer's shoulders also looks like they're regretting hitting that third bong as they slide into a "whitey". biggrin.png
