HSBC slashes jobs as it shifts focus back to Asian roots

LONDON (AP) — HSBC Holdings, Britain's largest bank by market value, will cut between 22,000 and 25,000 jobs around the world in an attempt to reduce costs and shift its center of gravity back toward fast-growing Asian economies.

Obama: Congress can fix health law if court rules against it

Cabinet gives green light to promote meetings in tourist destinations

BANGKOK, 9 June 2015 (NNT) - The Cabinet on Tuesday agreed to encourage government units, state enterprises and local administrative organizations to organize meetings, training and seminars in other provinces more in an effort to help stimulate the Thai tourism sector.


The Cabinet also instructed the above organizations to use the hotels which had registered legally and suggested that they prefer the International Convention and Exhibition Center Commemorating His Majesty’s 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary as a meeting venue. The center is located in Chiang Mai province.

Such tourism stimulus measure will also benefit the government urgent disbursement of the 2015 budget and help promote domestic tourism. The Cabinet suggested that the measure be implemented in the third and fourth quarters this year.

The government has declared 2015 the Discover Thainess Year with the objective to promote domestic traveling with the use of unique Thai characteristics.
