Is there a problem to get touristvisa, after having pension extension?

Featured Replies

Asking on behalf of a friend, that was going to renew the Retirement extension, but had failed on the maturing of the money on account. I assume there will not be a problem to have upto 3 double entry touristvisas from Vientiane, even if the person had Retirement extension til now? Having 20k baht in pocket to show if asked? And after 3 times from Vientiane, it can be obtained from Penang?

Has your friend considered the options of securing the extension by showing a monthly income (verified by his/her Embassy) of 65,000 bht a month or the "combo" method which allows money in the bank to be combined with income to make up a total of 800,000 Bht ?

Yes, the Income is less then 65k baht, and my friend was not aware of the maturing on the account, so the account was ballanced to late. So my friend need an alternative way to stay in the country, and also a litle time to save up for the account ballanse needed to meet the combination of Income and bank account.

His income doesn't need to be 65K if he had some balance in his account. If, for example, he had Baht 400,000 in the account and an embassy verifiable income of about Baht 35,000 a month, that would work. If he used this combination of bank balance and income, there is no 3 month requirement for the bank balance. If he has the Baht 800,000 in the account now, ANY income shown would mean the 3 months would no longer be required. I think there may be some offices that don't agree to that, but most do.

If that still won't work and he still plans to apply for an extension of stay based on retirement once the money in the bank has been over Baht 800,000 for three months, he'd be better off getting a non-imm O visa so that he could then go straight to the extension before his non-imm O entry has ended,

No neighboring country will issue a triple entry tourist visa. He might manage a two entry tourist visa at some embassy or consulate, but then to do the extension based on retirement he will need to apply for a conversion to a non-imm O entry in Bangkok before being able to do the extension.

The immigration did turn down the yearly extension, due to the part in the bank wasnt matured in the "combo" solution. To make clearer what I tried to express in opening post: I assume there will not be a problem to have upto 3 times a double entry touristvisa from Vientiane?

Your friend can but ask .

Most likely and depending on his nationality, he will get at least two double entry visas, which will provide almost 12 months in country .

If it is just a seasoning problem they should get a single entry non-o visa in Vientiane and then apply for the extension during the last 30 days of the 90 day entry from the visa.

The money does not have to be in the bank for any amount of time to apply for the visa. They will accept a combination totaling 800k baht by showing a bank book and income letter.

Thank you for the answer ubonjoe! I believed you had to have the money/income proved to be matured to get the non-o visa!

As I said there is no requirement for the money to be in the bank any amount of time to apply for a non-o visa. Seasoning is only required to apply for an extension of stay.
