webfact Posted June 11, 2015 Share Posted June 11, 2015 National Police Chief orders Pattaya Facebook Page to Shut DownPATTAYA: -- The National Police Commissioner intervened on Thursday and forced a popular Pattaya Facebook Page to shut down due to posts which indicated to followers the location of Police Checkpoints.The page, in Thai Language, had over 100,000 likes and was called “We Love Pattaya Checkpoints” and was particularly popular with those that have something to fear should they encounter a Pattaya Police Checkpoint.The Police began scouring the Law Books to see if they could lawfully force the page to close and they found a clause within the Computer Crimes Act of 2007 which meant they could threaten the owner of the page with criminal action should the page not be removed. Seriously though , check points are always in the same spots, avoiding those spots is easy enough solution. Not to mention police do not exactly go into any trouble hiding. Most checkpoints will stop most motorcycles and most farangs they can spot and find waterver excuse to take your money and waste your time. Pulled in this morning, did not come to a full stop before they noticed I was a farang and told me to go. Waved through another an hour later.
