BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha thanked the Singaporean government for its understanding of the current situation in Thailand, and invited Singapore to invest in the infrastructure development in Thailand, specifically in its special economic zones.

According to NNT, Gen Prayut is currently on a formal two-day visit to Singapore to tighten the relations between the countries after he was invited by Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

He spoke with the President of Singapore, Tony Tan, and attended a leader’s retreat where four agreements and memorandums of understanding were signed. The Thai PM made a joint statement with the Singaporean PM.

The prime minister said that the four agreements will result in increased support and facilitation of trade, investment, and tourism between both governments as well as between the general population of both nations. Thailand and Singapore said they are looking to strengthen the ASEAN Economic Community by increasing their investment possibilities, the Thai PM said.

He expressed his gratitude towards the warm welcome from the Singaporean government, and congratulated Singapore as the host and the medal leader of the 28th SEA Games competition.

He also affirmed that everything in Thailand is proceeding in accordance to a road-map aimed at creating stability and orderliness to the country. He added that the general election is still expected to take place next year.

Gen Prayut and his wife then attended the dinner hosted by the Singaporean PM at the Office of the President of Singapore.

The prime minister will return late this afternoon.

Invites Singapore? I thought it was a done deal with China The US Canada. The news changes almost every day.

Is Thailand going to cover the globe with hat in hand asking for investors?

Signapore, Japan, France, Italy, China, Canada ....

Prayut has made Thailand into the 7/11 for infrastructure investment.

But unlike 7/11's Thailand won't see an economic benefit from BORROWING from other nations for 20+ years while it pays off the debt service.

Thailand could self-finance its debt but that would cut down the available cash for important government functions like the MILITARY.

I suspect that Singapore is smarter to know than to invest Billions in immovable infrastructure in Thailand given the unstable political track record. They got their fingers burnt over the investment in Shincorp and the political bashing they took afterwards. And besides, who needs who the most?

Hi folks I AM BACK!

It seems Prayut has taken over from Yingluck traveling everywhere to beg and borrow for money to do this and that.

I have complained bitterly about doing business here - the immense difficulties of such - and I have looked elsewhere. I have decided on manila in the Philippines and guess what - NO RESTRICTIONS and seems a lot more business focused and friendly. that is why Toyota is moving most of its operations there - you should see the new factory being built and enhances in Cebu. Why are they going? had enough of VISAS, taxes controls staffing restrictions lied on INFRASTRUCTURE.

So all i can see is this infrastructure is gong to be a waste in years to come as companies need to look at bottom lines and Thailand's costs of doing business have increased so much that the bottom line has lifted a lot!

Again, beg borrow and maybe steal. Thailand under this government has not changed and I WAS SO WRONG. Probably from a foreign investment issue it has deteriorated.
