Is there a minimum days remaining on current extension rule prior to applying for second annual extension?

There is no minimum number of days. You can do ti on the last day if you want to.

Totally agree with UbonJoe - no minimum - but unless you really have no choice - better to do 30-45 days early (depending on what your office will allow) just in case you run into documentation problems - then you will have a window to resolve without having to start the process all over again.

To clarify, some newer expats think you lose something by applying early. But you lose nothing. The new extension starts after the old one expires, whether you do it the last day or not.
