Mexican arrested in Cambodia for sexually abusing minor

Phnom Penh, June 16 (IANS/EFE) A 59-year-old Mexican man was arrested in Cambodia, accused of sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl in the tourist city of Sihanoukville, media reported on Tuesday.

Cambodia Daily newspaper confirmed that the police arrested the Mexican on Sunday, acting on a rape complaint filed by the young girl's family.

The Mexican embassy in Vietnam, which corresponds to Cambodia as well, is yet to confirm the arrest.

There is something fishy about this story...a Mexican does not need to fly halfway around the world to abuse minor children...plenty of opportunity exists in Ole Mexico...

This article got the age wrong. A 15 year old would not be a minor --- the age of consent in Cambodia is 15 years.

Based on article in Cambodia Daily, she was under the age of 15 (https://www.cambodiadaily.com/news/police-arrest-mexican-for-rape-of-minor-in-sville-85640/). Exact age not specified, could have been anything below 15 years to qualify under Cambodian law as rape of a minor.

Could once again be a scam. Girl gets raped ,tells her folks , they find out who the nearest person is with some cash and blame him. Too many finger pointing folk about. Maybe this Mexicon is guilty but not enough info here.

I thought it is 16 (wiki says so at least) but it is definitely not 18, as most of the HANG'EM HIGHER - Crowd here would like it to be.

I have been reading a very thorough and interesting book by Donny Gluckstein, A People's History of the Second World War: Resistance versus Empire. Of course, the author quotes both Zinn and Terkel! The thesis is that two parallel wars were taking place. The official military war of Allies against Axis that was essentially a imperialist war from both sides. The second war was that waged by the underground people's resistance. Fascinating stuff. "The USA was equally cynical in its approach to peace. As one leading politician put it: ‘As things are now going, the peace we will make, the peace we seem to be making, will be a peace of oil, a peace of gold, a peace of shipping ... without moral purpose ... .’ Devoid of moral purpose, maybe, but Hull, Roosevelt’s Secretary of State, explained the USA would lead ‘a new system of international relationships ... primarily for reasons of pure national self-interest." I'd like to update myself on the stamps put by immigration into the passport of a Permanent Resident. Does a Permanent Resident nowadays still need to get a stamp (endorsement, non-quota immigrant visa, re-entry permit or whatever it may be labelled nowadays) in his passport before leaving Thailand so as not to forfeit his permanent residence status? If so, what does this stamp look like? What is the TM form number to apply for it? What is the fee for it?
