The ultimate in Casino design could also include Marks amusement park, nothing wrong with that , especially if built by the Chinese , we could have the main BKK H/S rail station at the Thai Xing Mao Casino and include departures to Pattaya and Cha Am on the great wall super Muang high speed express The Shinawtra Chiang Mai sprinter will still leave from platform 7 . coffee1.gif

?????????

So Mark wants young people to become hookers and work in amusement-parks ??

Who's Mark?

"Mark" is the stupid name that idiots use for Abhisit. Similar people like to use the word "Thainess" because they can think of nothing intelligent to say. thumbsup.gif

Maybe you think it's a stupid name, but it is his first name on his birth certificate.

Singapore also resisted casinos for a long time.

They relented, and the Casino complexes they built have added real vibrancy to the city state.

If Thailand would allow foreign casinos to operate in the country, like Singapore did, perhaps it could add something to Thailand as a tourism destination...

I'm sure there would be plenty of interest from International casinos...just like Singapore.

Singapore introduced Casino's with conditions - for a local to gain entry, they must pay $100, immediately decreasing their odds of breaking even. For those locals that have the cash to throw away, let them at it, as well as the ex pat bankers and holiday makers who just flash their passports and flood the place.

Thailand has enough problems managing even a corrupted lottery system where too many people go counting the stars, observing cloud formations & reading palms in any effort to conjure up numbers to throw at this weeks jackpot. Give them Casino's and watch them throw themselves further down the tubes.

At least Abhisit is making a decent plea, forget his alternative for a theme park, that's not even the point. I find it disgraceful that this all comes from a Police chief who stalled on stripping TS from his rank. PM could at least address this if he wants to tackle corruption and talk about avoiding vice & sticking to road maps, its a perfect opportunity to confirm his stance.

If the shoe fits...go look in the mirror to see an idiot.

Mark is his given name.

And the Tourism Authority of Thailand is using "Discover Thainess" as their current marketing slogan, I think they may have even invented the word?

Surely you're not calling the PM an idiot? PM to launch 'Discover Thainess' campaign

Dear Mark, try to leave your ivory-tower and pay a visit to the real Thailand!!

Hint: Most people don't visit Pattaya for its temples.................coffee1.gif

Perhaps Thailand would attract more than middle aged sex tourists if there were other attractions besides upcountry farm girls.bah.gif

As to Abhisit's suggestion of Amusement Parks, I thought Thailand already was one. How about some PARKS.

I agree, Singapore certainly had a head start with the lack of corruption, proper planning and putting some restrictions in place for locals...

As much as I'd like to think it could happen, it is hard to imagine Thailand could make it work.

...and you are right regarding lottery. They can't even get that right. Imagine how many hands would be outstretched if a casino ever made it here...

agree on the police chief failing to strip TS of his rank.

I guess I was daydreaming.

You are correct, his name is Mark Abhisit Vejjajiva. And I was aware of that, having read his Wiki page ages ago.

But that is not the point, if you read my comment again, carefully, you will find I made no mention of what his real name is, I said -

"Mark" is the stupid name that idiots use for Abhisit.".................No mention of what the name is on his birth certificate.

Funnily enough it is nearly always the anti-Abhisit crowd who use the term "Mark", for some unknown reason. Almost like it is used in a derogatory manner.

And bumnutsuk, when I wrote -

"Similar people like to use the word "Thainess" because they can think of nothing intelligent to say."...........I was referring to people posting on the forum, nothing to do with the Tourism Authority of Thailand using the stupid term.

And anyone with any brains would see the difference between the way the Tourism Authority of Thailand intend the meaning of the term, and the way it is used on the forum.

So glad I cleared that up, carry on lads ! biggrin.png

Want some more tourist money?

Legalize and control prostitution.

Legalize and control marijuana.

Deal with all the tourist scams.

Clean up the environment.

Yes, amusement parks would be good too, but as someone mentioned health and safety would be needed.

Casinos...the locals would suffer mostly. On the whole, they are not mature enough yet for this.

I think prostitution is already making the maximum possible money, no need to improve.....

Agree on the rest. Specially environment. Beside a few spot Thailand is really B quality for Scuba Diver already. They go other countries.

The difference being a prostitutes income goes towards food shelter and clothing for their family who would otherwise have no income.

profits from a casino will just go to the owners who are filthy rich already.

and we probably know whos family will probably own the casino right?

Anyway Thais are terrible problem gamblers. Once they are down a little they will double up time again until they loose everything.

if casinos are legalised here we will see horrendous social problems IMO

Like there's no gambling possible now. In a legal casino there would be considerably better odds than in the home card games and dodgy dens. Several countries also restrict the natives on moral , economic grounds. If they were smart ....... They would sell licences to foreign operators and tax them, but I'm not holding my breath for that. More likely they need more kickbacks so end up with some Cambodian style baccarat brothel.

You start opening Casinos, and the Thai Families will Suffer, especially the Children, money lost and No Food for Family, a Scourge in Issan.

And that's not already happening in a collapsing economy?

With rock-bottom prices for agricultural products, falling demand for Thai exports, diminished government revenue collection and deflation the nation's economy is crashing. Continued political uncertainty is driving foreign investment away. Heavy taxation of casino revenues might help revitalize the economy.

I forwarded your solution of the world financial downturn to several world leaders. No replies yet.

the family one's in their own country are for families only, not singles and they don't offer that kind of service for a good value

cheap food, cheap labor, and cheap putty, that is what makes thailand attracktive

Ever been inside the Ambassador City complex near Jomtien...It was built to be a casino. Its huge. Also, a large part of the area is Shin owned. The law gets passed there would be a fully funtional casino opened in seconds.
