Where To Buy Unlocked Mobile In Bangkok Or Chiang Mai?

Featured Replies

Any suggestions on where to buy an unlocked tri-band mobile phone as well as a local sim card?

What kind of cost would i be looking at.

Hope you can help.

Cheers.

I dont live in bangkok but any large phone store that sells many brands can unlock any phone for you rather easily while you wait. go to a big C where they are multible phone stores and one of them will advertise the service

Central,Big C,Secon Square and especially upstairs at MBK.....they have enough to give one to every Chinese tourist on their Holidays... :o

Unless it is a very old model you are unlikely to find any phone on sale these days is locked.

SIM cards are available just about everywhere.

Just take care you register, even for pre-paid accounts.

Much appreciated :o

Much appreciated :D

You can often find the exact phone you want on ebay.. used and unlocked. most often they are direct from USA but also many other countries ie HK. I got one as a spare and came in handy as mine went in the drink and was ruined. I just took the simm card and the battery and put them in the standby phone i got on ebay and I was back on with no problems. :o

I was thinking exactly that tampasailor! :o

Another question tho (*feeling like a total idiot right now*).. but do i actually need a tri-band phone? Im in the UK, and from what ive tried to understand looking online, the band frequency in Thailand is the same as here.

So..um..does that mean just a reg unlocked phone would work fine? :S

Your UK phone will work fine. Locked phones can easily be unlocked in Thailand if needed.
