SINGSOC investigating resale of SEA Games Myanmar vs Thailand football final tickets

SINGSOC says it initially sold 2,050 tickets to a group named 'Golden Myanmar Group' at a discount but withdrew the discount when they found out they planned to collect the standard ticket price of S$20 from buyers.

SINGAPORE: The Singapore SEA Games Organising Committee (SINGSOC) said on Monday (Jun 23) that is working with relevant authorities after tickets to the SEA Games 2015 Myanmar-Thailand football final were allegedly resold for a higher price.

In response to media queries, Mr Toh Boon Yi, Chief, Corporate and Community Outreach at SINGSOC said it initially sold 2,050 tickets to a group named 'Golden Myanmar Group' at a discount as part of a group purchase. SINGSOC then withdrew the discount and charged the standard price of S$20, not including the S$1 booking fee after they found that they intended to collect the standard ticket price from their members.

“We now understand that tickets were sold at S$25 with the difference allegedly donated to a charitable cause. SINGSOC is reviewing the matter with the relevant authorities,” said Mr Toh. He added that SINGSOC takes a serious view toward ticket scalping.
