PATTAYA: -- The Chief of Banglamung Police announced on Tuesday, the arrest of 9 people in connection with the theft of motorbikes from the Pattaya and Banglamung areas and production and sale of illegal firearms.

The first case led to the arrest of 8 people, all members of the same gang, reportedly led by Khun Saharat aged 19. The other 7 gang members are aged between 14 and 17 and cannot be named for legal reasons.

They were caught in a rented room behind the Gratin-Rai Temple in the Nong Pla Lai area and were caught with two stolen motorbikes and a selection of spare parts.

The gang were known to target unsecure bikes which they would sell on for up to 3,000 Baht each. If the stolen bikes were considered unsaleable, they would be stripped-down and the spare parts would be sold to local motorbike repair shops.

I couldn't agree more but unfortunately it won't happen, it's the same in other countries and not necessarily unique to Thailand. The courts will give them a smack on the wrist with the supposed priority being "rehabilitation"

The young get away with this because of their age but (while I don't want to sound too cynical) the criminal youth of today will most probably be the adult criminal tomorrow. IMHO they should either receive a hefty prison sentence or intensive counseling, something must be done to break the cycle of crime in which too many youngsters are raised!!!

A serious problem ignored now will be a very serious and much more costly problem to solve later, it doesn't bode well for some of the youth to come...

The guy on the right in the checkered shirt is a whopping measure older than 19....

??

Yep, he looks to be about 57 years old and recently (one year ago) released from prison for doing what he was caught doing this time again, making illegal firearms.

At least that is what it says in the link in the OP................................wink.png
