Today there are no chairs and no income on Wong Amat beach (Naklua soi 18).

The result of Thais misbehaving and getting spanked by the government.

If only every Thai could get penalized for bad behavior.

Looks much better now, just like a TAT brochure.

More sand and less scammers. Nice.

Yea great for becoming burnt like a lobster in about 30-45

minutes on the beach with no umbrellas to protect white skinned

tourist from the sun....

O-yea Thai girls will not even go to the beach with-out umbrellas

during the day....

I have been to the beach hundreds of times. The worst scammers

I ever saw was ice cream sellers, foot massagers, trinket sellers

Seems like here's a business opportunity for some enterprising person who could invent something round you can put under a lightweight folding chair, that would allow it to be moved from place to place. That way, they could set up shop in a legal location and the customer could roll their rented chair (with integrated umbrella) wherever they choose.

If only someone could invent that round thingy...

Wouldn't it be nice if the umbrella people didn't try to control the area? The audacity of that disrespectful lowlife, throwing tourists off a public beach like they were a pack of mangy dogs! Not the first time either.

Let's be honest. They were paying off police so they could exploit public property and they made the place look like a slum.

The spiteful jerks worked their butts off every morning setting up thousands of empty chairs and even became abusive to those that didn't want to use their services.

Went to Ibiza Spain.

Umbrela is like 20 euros expensive tho.

But there is no prob if u stay next to it for free.

And its far less umbrelas.

Here they took every inch.

So basically u have to pay

And remember its not only chair and umbrela next thing the menu will arrive.

Try turn up with ur own Leo from 7/11

I bought my own folding beach chair, folding table and beer cooler. All I need is a shady spot away from those venders.

Carrying a chair, and a table to the beach in order to save 40 baht? You can't be serious! And where is the shady spot on beach in Pattaya or Jomtien. Don't tell you carrying a beach umbrella as well.

The price to sit under a umbrella all day is about 1 dollar...

Yes one dollar for a whole day..

Also loads of empty beach for those who are too cheap to spend

one dollar...

Who really cares if the chairs are not first first class...

Its perfect really 2nd class chairs for a 3rd class beach and

4th class dirty ocean water.....

In hua hin its more

And then they force food on you

Som tam is 300thb

Maybe they should leave a choice for the tourists at the beach. The vendor does half their area as it is done now and the other half of their area just umbrellas so people can sit on mats or blankets under umbrellas. charge the same with or without chairs.Have Thai style mats at no extra cost. for people who like the mat or blanket experience.and didnot bring one.

"The survey of 200 beach vendors of food and beverages revealed that 80 percent of them set up beach chairs beyond restricted areas."

I say, screw them. Off the beach entirely.

They have been abusing the beach and tourists for years and years. They blew it. By By.

Here is an article from 2008. Even the Chonburi Governor was ignored by Pattaya Police and City Hall.

I have never had the slightest problem with the beach people..

They provide a great service for very little money.

The vast majority of tourist seem to be happy with them...

God bless them.

I hope they are there for many many more years....
