Non immigrant O visa 30 days extension

Featured Replies

Hi,

I wanted to stay in Pattaya for 4 month so the embassy in Australia gave me a 90 non immigrant O visa. They said I could get a 30 day extension at Pattaya immigration. I just been to immigration and they said the best they could do is a 7 day extension and if I wanted 30 days I needed to do a border visa run. Can anyone tell me if this is correct? Also, I have with me my Thai wife and child who have Thai and Australia passports, not sure if this make any different.

Thanks

Unfortunately correct.

Someone at the consulate/embassy in Australia needs some job training.

Only visa exempt entry (what the border run would do for you) and tourist visa can be extended for 30 days,

Even worse: at the land border you would only get a 15 day permit (as an Australian citizen).

So you would need a cheap return flight (Malaysia) to get 30 days.

Or you do the full solution and get a new visa (like a tourist visa) in a neighbouring country.

Somewhat inconvenient and at a cost.

It was an Honorary Consultant that closed down 2 days after I received my visa. Thanks anyway!

Moved to the Thai visas forum

You cannot get a 30 day extension but you can get a 60 day extension to visit your Thai wife.

Your wife will need to go with you when you apply. You will need your marriage certificate plus a copy. copies your wife's house book registry and ID card.

From Police order 138/2557

2.24 In the case of visiting a spouse or children who are of Thai nationality:
Each permission shall be granted for no more than 60 days.

1. Application form.
2. Copy of applicant’s passport.
3. Copy of household registration certificate.
4. Copy of national ID card of the person having Thai nationality.
5. Copy of a marriage certificate or copy of a birth certificate.

Goods news! Do you think I will be able to apply for this visa in Pattaya or will I have to leave the country? Also, will it matter that my wife and daughter normally live me in Australia? My wife is registered on my house book, which is in a company name. We tried to registered my daughter, but even though we had heeps of documents we needed even more, which of course are in Australia.

Thanks for your help.

That is done in Jomtien. It doesn't matter where they live. You don't even need to present your daughter's documents as your wife would be the basis for application.

You apply for the extension at immigration in Jomtien.

It does not matter where your family is living.

No problem with your wife's .house book.

Yes, this is Thailand, and honest decent tourists are having to be inconvenienced because of all these overstayers and illegal workers.

Can the Thai government not find some way of making sure illegal workers and their employers get harshly punished and make it easier for genuine tourists

to visit this great country?

Yes, I did, but I had the wife with me. Only talked to one at girls in front office and she talked to the immigration official who kept saying Mai Dai. He didn't talk to me or my wife. It would have been helpful if they told me that option was available. Lucky I had TV to help me out.

Cheers

hey why dont you get marriage or retirement visa?

These are extensions of stay, not visa. You need proof of funds of income for these. For a 60 days extension you don't.
