Hello,

I work at a private school in Thailand which my 11 year old also attends, have a work permit and a Non O visa ( I have re-married to a Thai lady) .

I would like to know how to change my daughter's tourist visa to an ED Visa, how much is it, what documents I need to provide, how long it is valid for, and does she need to do 90 day reports on it?

I am a little confused because most comments I have seen are relating to adults studying here.

Thank you,

Immigration will not do a change of visa status from a tourist visa to a non immigrant based upon qualify for attending school or a dependent extension.

Since you a married to a Thai you daughter also qualifies for an extension based upon being step child of a Thai under clause 2.18 of Police Order 327/2557 basis for extension of stay. Immigration in Bangkok might do a change of visa status for this extension. It also would be good since her extension would not tied to yours or for attending school.

I(female ,36,german) live in Thailand on a NON-O Visa for 6 years.

On my last Visa application(Kota Bahru) the officer told me she can give me only a single NON-O this time, because my daughter(9Years) non thai but born in Thailand has no ED Visa.

She attends a thai primary school. Before they never ask for "her Visa".The document from school, that she study there and of course show money in the bank was enough. She never had a Visa.

I never had trouble before,as she has thai birth certificate which allows her to stay. But not for me anymore.

Can anybody help with information?

Can I apply ED Visa for her in THailand or do I have to take her to a Visa RUN to Malaysia or elsewhere?

You daughter being born in Thailand does not exempt her from needing a visa. The fact that she is under 15 year old means she does not pay overstay fines is all.

In order for you daughter to apply for an extension of stay she would need to leave the country to get a single entry non-ed visa. Then she could get a one year extension of stay at immigration.

If she geta a one year extension you could also get one as her parent. You would need to show 500k baht in a Thai bank for 30 days for the first extension. Then for the 2nd extension the money would have to be in the bank for 3 months..

Thank you so much for your reply ubonjoe.

So I could go with her( for example to Malaysia) to apply for a Single entry ED for her and a Single NON O for me,I hope this is possible in 1 Step.

Then I can extend these visas here at immigration for 1 year?

You should have no problem getting both visas at the same time just be sure you have the required paperwork for you daughters non-ed.

Yes you could then get the one year extensions.
