Im working here illegaly doing visa runs. When I first was offered the job a work permit was part of it but aparently my employer discovered that because he already employed one farang the costs, I think mainly in extra tax, were going to be very expensive so he pays for my visa runs instead. The job is pretty low key so Im not worried about getting caught but I would much prefer to be legal, and it would be much more convenient with the new visa rules. So my question is has my employer got his facts right. Would a work permit be as expensive as he says?

No it would be the same or cheaper than your visa runs. With one exception if he is foreigner himself employing one foreigner and has a 4 million Baht registered company. With the increased capital required for your work permit, his company would no longer be a SME.

yes, he is a foreigner, unless its in his wifes name, and he is employing his mother already who is also a foreigner, so that could be the problem

Another WP question .... I potentially have a job coming up that will be happy to pay for a work permit, but apparantly they can't be bothered to do the paperwork themselves. What options would I have for doing the work myself - going to the embassy etc etc and getting things done myself? They would be happy to put my on their payroll, or if I can get an Entertainment Company to hire me, give me the WP, then contract me out to their location that would be fine, too ... if that is possible. whats the scoop? thanks!
