Hi there,

I hold a European passport. I have had a couple of double visa tourist visas in the past. There's a red stamp in the passport which says "the holder of this passport travels to Thailand under a tourist visa several times which may result in the refusal of visa in the future".

My latest visa is an ED visa. I have had an ED visa for almost one year. It expires on the 13th of August.

The passport is almost full so I need a new passport.

I have two questions.

If I get a new passport before the 13th of August, do I still need to transfer the ED visa to the new passport?

If I have a new passport without stamps, would it be possible to get a couple of double tourist visas from the consulate in Vientiane again?

Your visa will not be transferred. They will do an annotation of it, the entry stamp from it and you current extension stamp.

Having those stamps in your passport will have no effect on getting a tourist visa.

I said transferred but I was referring to the annotation.

Do I have to pay extra for that annotation?

Will they also annotate the information from the red stamp?

Transfer of stamps is free. That annotation is not transferred.

If you are on an extension of stay for study (it is not a visa) and you leave to Laos via land border, make sure you have a letter from you school stating that you ended studies on the day you leave as you will have to cancel your extension at the town office.
