Can anyone explain what this Thai symbol is?

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, but it seemed the most fitting. It may not even be a representation of any specific Thai symbol, but I have seen it on display in a Muay Thai gym, and it is from a film based in Thailand.

Does anybody know if it is a specific symbol in Thai culture, or maybe know what it represents? I think it is visually amazing.

15 years living in Thailand and this is the first time I've seen it. I think it's just a design.

It is an image from the movie Only God Forgives. It was shot in Bangkok and is about an expat that runs a Muay Thai club. I think that is about it. There may be more, but I am not aware of it.

Can't connect it to any film, but It looks a lot like a random "cool" symbol, that was designed for advertising purposes. I don't even suspect it's a Lawas design. Some forms of self designed muay Thai symbols:

None of these patterns represent any deeper meaning. They just look good.

Oh boy, after googling it I actually have seen that crappy movie. I must have fallen asleep while watching it since I still can't recall seeing that symbol.
