Im not sure how it is spelt, she just told me it is called something like Udon/Oudem

At a very minimum 8 hours ...

Flights from Udon to BKK are cheap via AirAsia ... then just a hop to Pattaya

Both are just as looooooooooooooooooooong.......................................... :o be prepared to keep yourself occupied with some gameboy, books, magazine, mp3 players, food etc for the trip!!
