July 15, 201510 yr Hi guys, I'm a Canadian, currently in the US. I will be flying in 3 weeks to BKK and would like to get a visa that would last longer than a stamp. Is that possible? What are my options? Thank you
July 15, 201510 yr Depending on where you are, you should contact or visit a Thai consulate or Honorary consul. http://www.guidetothailand.com/thailand-travel-information/honcon-americas.php This list may be outdated.
July 15, 201510 yr Author I'm in San Francisco, really don't have any chance to go to any other city in the US atm. I remember last time coming to Thailand from Cambodia I applied very easily for 60-day visa and got accepted immediately. Wonder if there are similar kind of options at the airport.

You don't remember correctly, because no visa or extension is available at the airport. You can apply by mail to (e.g.) Los Angeles or travel visa exempt then obtain a 30 days extension at Thai immigration, Bt, 1,900. If the latter check the following: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/754481-boarding-to-thailand-without-return-ticket/ Edited July 15, 201510 yr by paz
July 15, 201510 yr Author Thank you. Can I still apply to LA visa consulate even as a Canadian (by mail)? Or would it make more sense to mail it to Canada?
July 15, 201510 yr Thank you. Can I still apply to LA visa consulate even as a Canadian (by mail)? Or would it make more sense to mail it to Canada? I think that if you mail to Canada they would return to a Canadian address only, but check with them anyway.
July 15, 201510 yr I think they would only send it to a Canadian address. You have to have an address in the country where you are applying unless there is no embassy or consulate where you are applying from.. You can apply at the LA consulate but it appears they will wan to see a ticket out of the country. http://www.thaiconsulatela.org/service_visa_detail.aspx?link_id=32 You can enter visa exempt and get a 30 day visa exempt entry that can be extended fro 30 days. You might need a ticket out within 30 to board your flight. A one way ticket out to a nearby country would be accepted. Check some of the low cost carriers for prices.
July 16, 201510 yr The website for the honorary consulate in Portland, Oregon http://www.thai-or.com seems to indicate they could accommodate you. They have fast turnaround on applications sent by express mail.
