Documents for re-entry permit at CNX (sorry)

Hi,

What documents do I need to take to the aiport to get a re-entry permit on my way out the door?

Photo, photocopies of passport pages?

Have a good day,

Cocopops.

PS: This must have been asked a thousand times, but I'm too dim-witted to find the answer by searching. Sigh... Sorry about that.

You'll need your passport, a photo, a boarding pass for an international flight that day, and either 1000 or 3800 thb, depending upon whether you want a single or multiple re-entry permit. There's a form to be filled out - which you can download and do in advance or just fill it out at the counter.

Bonus question: Can you get your re-entry permit once you have your extension now, or do you still have to go back the following day?

If you have to go back the next day why not go to the new office in the Promenada where they are offering same day service?

Maybe it is just me but I would be afraid to show up two hours before flight time and depend on them to give me a reentry permit.

With out it I would loose my permission to stay and have to reapply for my retirement all over again when I returned. I am told doing it here in country can be a bit more complicated than when I got it in Canada.

I think the question is: "when you get your extension at the immigration office can you also get your re-entry permit the same day or do you have to go back to the office again?"

Back to the OP, I can't remember but I think you may also need your departure card when you apply for the re-entry permit.

@northernjohn, regarding your comment about showing up two hours before flight time, etc. - I've gotten my re-entry permit at the CNX airport and it was about a five minute transaction. No worries but I understand why many hesitate.

Just did my first Annual Extension of Stay and Multiple Re-entry Permit at Chiang Mai immigration office in June. Both completed at the same time. In and Out in under and hour. Great Service and from my perspective, very efficient. Went to Myanmar shortly afterwards, no issues.

I admit it I am a bit over cautious when it comes to Visas. Was thinking I might stay over seas longer than the plan of Sept. 1. Using my 30 day early filing time I could apply over there on Sept 9. for my permission to stay1 year. Not that I really want to stay that long. I find one month with the family and friends is enough. Thedy have their lives so different from mine.

I had a friend who renewed that way every year in Portland. Then one year some thing changed and he had to come back and go to Lao to get a new one. Best for me to play it safe.

Thank you, perfect. I didn't understand why they did the 'come back tomorrow for your re-entry thing, and it's another move in the right direction (transport to the new office if you show up at the old one being the original).

Is someone new in charge?

IMO, if you are going to be really close to the Embassy or one of the three real Consulates in the US, just getting a new visa would be a consideration, and would save you from two renewals in CM, and also one year of re-entry fees. The police report thing can vary a little bit, as well as the signature notarizations. I think enough people in DC said <deleted> about getting someone else's signature notarized and they didn't require it. If they switch to a full FBI fingerprint report, that will kind of suck, because it costs more, takes longer, and some may have to explain why they had an open container of beer, when they were only 20 years of age, back in 1983. I found a "travel medical" specialist that took care of the certificate (elephantisis, grade II syphilis, TB, etc..) for 55 USD, guaranteed results, and that was in very expensive DC. They were insisting on 300 USD complete physicals in Virginia....
