Process of bringing in 1960's chevrolet truck parts

Featured Replies

I have been doing some reasearch about bringing a classic car into Thailand by myself, but does anyone know a shipping or import agent that can deal with the red tape of bringing vehicles in? Also, does anyone know the guidelines of bringing in random parts to build a complete old truck? I was thinking bring a cab and motor, then a frame and bed etc a few months apart or in different names? But then what about registering it?

It looks like I will be here awhile and that is the only thing I really enjoy. I have found some old Land Rovers, but that would almost be the same process since the ones I have looked at have rotted frame or body parts so lot of used parts would have to be shipped in. Other small items I could bring in my luggage or pay extra to bring on the flight.

Thanks for any advice or input other than don't do it! ha!

Thailand has an unfriendly attitude to importing classic cars.

One major road block is registration. There seems to be no way to get a new registration for an 'old' vehicle.

I read that one reason for this is that the vehicle has to pass current emission regs.

So registration is the first issue, if this cannot be solved there is no point in tackling the other major issue which is importing parts.

A registration solution could be to find an existing reg for the same model of vehicle and then tailor the rebuild to suit.

One of the rotten Land Rovers with a reg book would be the easiest solution if you enjoy restorations.
