I just received my multiple entry retirement visa here in the states and will travel in a few weeks. I understand that if I leave and come back within the year I will get a one year stay from the date I come back in. What exactly does that mean? Say, if I leave Thailand in Feb. and come back in March does that mean I don't have to renew or extend until the next march?Also, when it is time to renew or extend will I still be able to get a multiple entry? Thanks!

If you have an O/A visa that will allow a one year "permission" to stay. Because the vsa is multi-entry you may come and go freely whilst the visa remains valid. Each entry to the country during the period of validity will result in a 12 month permission to stay.

If an exit/re-entry is made just prior to the visa expiring a second year stay can be secured. To travel during this second year a re-entry permit must be applied for at an immigration office.

The visa is valid from the day of issue ----------check the "enter before " date on the visa sticker as this represents the visas expiry date.

Your Visa is valid for 12 months from the day it was issued.

Enter Thailand anytime during that 12 months and you will get 12 months stay.

You can get 2 years out of it by doing a border run just before it expires.

In around 2 years you apply for a 12 month extension of stay. 1,900 Baht

Multi Re Entry Permit will cost 3,800 Baht.
