Women who got 'huge share transfers' from dead tycoon set to meet police
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- A WOMAN who received more than Bt200 million worth of shares from late construction tycoon Chuwong Saetang under what his family called murky circumstances is scheduled to testify to police today.

Police spokesman Lt-General Prawut Thavornsiri said another woman who also received shares from Chuwong just days before his death on June 26 had told police she would testify tomorrow.

"We will have to find out exactly their relationships with Chuwong and the reasons behind the huge share transfers," he said.

Chuwong's family suspect foul play in his death and his recent transfer of shares, which were worth nearly Bt300 million. Chuwong was killed on June 26 when the Lexus in which he was a passenger crashed. The car was driven by Pol Lt-Colonel Banyin Tangpakorn, a former deputy commerce minister and ex-MP, who walked away from the crash without a scratch.

Banyin told police he was giving Chuwong a ride home when the car crashed. He said Chuwong was killed in the crash. The fact that Banyin himself did not sustain any injuries has raised doubts.

Banyin has insisted he is innocent and is considering action against those who spread the information in a way that makes him look like a culprit in the eyes of the public.

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Lt-General Srivara Ransibrahmanakul yesterday said police had already summoned most of the witnesses.

"But we have found that the report of Chuwong's death is still incomplete in parts," he said.

Srivara said he would convene a meeting of relevant investigators tomorrow to follow up on the progress and integrate efforts in solving the case.

Scientific Crime Detection Division's chief Maj-General Tawatchai Prasertsuk said available information suggested Chuwong still had vital life signs after the accident. "But we will have to look into details before we can really conclude he was still alive following the car crash," Tawatchai said.

Set to meet police unless they come up with another excuse to delay matters and with the BIB attitude of ' we'll get around to things ' it will be accepted.

My tip to the ladies involved is to make the excuse as ridiculous as possible and that will ensure another delay is granted.

Rich old man, beautiful Mia Noi or two, lots of money changes hands, mysterious car accident and inexplicable death,

add screaming, shouting angry face and a tortured maid, and you have all the ingredients for the making of a good

Thai soap opera......

In an earlier report the two woman involved were described as "golf pretties and caddies". The family can hardly complain if the old man was a good tipper but, humor aside, there seems to be more to this that a simple car accident. As someone said above, what about seat-belts? And did all sets of airbags deploy? If it was a high-end car as one would expect they should operate front and side.

In the report I read only one of them was described as a golf caddie.

The other woman was said to be the mother of the broker who worked for the stockbroking firm were his share account was held.

"under what his family called murky circumstances is scheduled to testify to police today."

The murkiest circumstance is that the deceased's family had those shares earmarked, and discovered that he had other plans.

This is a perfectly believable scenario, Thai billionaires have a history of transferring shares to gardeners, chauffer's and other staff for no apparent reason.
