Phayao region is not bad at all, but around the Puchifa Mountains, between Chiang Kong and Chiang Mai on Chiang Rai province is not so hot in Summer, and is very cold in Winter. I am planning in moving in that way to build a coffee plantation and a winter resort....someday...

Loei is a nice area and cooler than most.

In hot season its a ruddy furnace

he ended up near phu rua 40 or so ks from loei, says it rarely gets hotter than 28.
