BANGKOK: -- SECOND WOMAN WHO GOT MILLIONS IN SHARES MEETS POLICE, SAYS THEY HAD A 'SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP' BUT WERE NOT LOVERS

MYSTERY continues to shroud the death of construction tycoon Chuwong Saetang, prompting investigators to tackle the question of who are the beneficiaries from his passing.

At this point, it remains inconclusive whether Chuwong died of an accident or was murdered on June 26.

"We will have to identify the beneficiaries," Deputy Metropolitan Police Commissioner Maj-General Chanthep Sesawet said yesterday.

He was speaking after Metropolitan Police commissioner Lt-General Srivara Ransibrahman-akul convened a meeting of investigators working on the case and said that the investigation, which was 90 per cent complete, had not yet cleared lingering doubts.

"There are many points that remain unanswered," Srivara said.

Chuwong died on the night of June 26 after the car in which he was a passenger crashed into a tree on a Bangkok road.

Pol Lt-Colonel Banyin Tangpakorn, a former deputy commerce minister and former MP, was driving the car.

Chuwong's family raised doubts about his death in light of the fact that Banyin had sustained no injuries and a huge volume of Chuwong's shares worth many millions were suspiciously transferred to two women just days before his death.

One of the women told police yesterday that she had received Chuwong's shares because of her daughter's special relationship with the tycoon.

The daughter, Uracha Wachirakun-thon, is a broker who first met Chuwong in March.

"She said their relationship was special but they were not yet lovers," police spokesman Lt-General Prawut Thavornsiri said.

Uracha said she had received more than Bt30 million of shares from Chuwong through her mother's account. According to her, she always traded shares via her mother's account.

The other female recipient of shares from Chuwong, Kantana Siwathanapon is pregnant with his child. She received Bt228 million worth of shares.

Police have found no link between Kantana and Uracha. "They don't know each other," Prawut said.

Pol Colonel Pisit Thamsuriya, a doctor at the Police General Hospital, said Chuwong died mainly from brain injuries but further examination was needed to determine how he had bruises around his eyes.

"The bruises around his eyes are one of the points that the metropolitan police chief expects us to tackle," he said.

Srivara said two rescue workers provided conflicting statements as to whether Chuwong had died at the scene of the car crash.

He said he had instructed investigators to gather more evidence and report the progress at the next meeting, which will be held early next week.

Police forensic chief says death of billionaire construction tycoon is likely accidental

7-24-2015-10-12-20-PM-wpcf_728x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- The death of billionaire construction tycoon Chuwong Sae Tang is likely turning “accidental” after the police forensic chief indicated he might die from accident.

Commandant of the Central Scientific Crime Detection Division Pol. Maj-Gen Thawatchai Maek-prasertsook disclosed today that there were strong indications that the construction contractor had died as a result of an accident.

But he did however reveal that there were some discrepancies with regard to the signatures on the documents involving the transfer of ownership of the shares.

“The evidence strongly points to an accidental death. But we are not overlooking any possibilities. In order to come to a clear conclusion, we need to look at all the details and information involved in the case.”

He closed by saying that the results into the cause of death will be finalized and released within the following week.

The police forensic chief’s disclosure came as initial investigations strongly indicate that his death was accidental.

This comes about following forensics investigation of his injuries and the time of death which does not point to any foul-play.

Meanwhile in another related development, another female with close acquaintance of the deceased tycoon has come forward to reveal to police authorities that she had received shares valued at almost 40 million baht from the tycoon.

Uracha Wachirakunthon, a broker with the AEC Securities Public Co. Ltd. was accompanied by her mother to report to detectives at the Crime Suppression Department for questioning.

She was summoned after it was discovered that she had received 400,000 shares rumored to be worth more than 40 million Baht from the tycoon, Chuwong sae Tang, prior to his death.

Ms Uracha was queried on her duties at the AEC Securities Public Co. Ltd. and whether her duties involved personally looking after the investment portfolio of the deceased tycoon.

Furthermore, authorities wanted to determine under what circumstance were the shares transferred to her and also why following that, ownership of the shares was transferred over to her mother. Finally, investigators wanted to determine her relationship with Mr. Chuwong.

But the broker who also works part time as event girl or “pretty” admitted that she had received the shares from Mr Chuwong but stated that they were valued at less than 40 million baht.

Furthermore, she revealed that she was not the broker that personally handled the investment portfolio of the deceased tycoon at AEC Securities Public Co. Ltd.

“The shares were willingly given to me for free. They were not given as a reward but because he and has close relationship. Also I did not look after his portfolio but we got to know each other through the securities market,” she told reporters at the CSD.

Royal Thai Police spokesman Pol Lt-Gen Prawut Thawornsiri , meanwhile, revealed that the results of the investigation into the signatures of the deceased had come in but investigators were not willing to release the details.

With regards to the recorded conversation between Mr Chuwong and his broker where he had ordered a number of shares to be dumped, the spokesman stated that it was still under active investigation if it was his voice.

In a related development, Metropolitan police commissioner Pol Lt-Gen Sriwara Rangsitpramakul revealed that they were planning to summon Pol Lt Col Bunyin Tangpakorn to come again for questioning.

Pol Lt-col Bunyin is a close personal friend of the deceased who is also the only witness at the scene, and investigators wanted to question him further on the actual speed the vehicle was travelling and the time taken from their departure from the golf course to the point of the accident.

The police commissioner also stated that more than 90% of the investigation has been completed and the results will be made public within the following week.

He added what remains is to question the two close female acquaintances one more time and a few other details that will need to be clarified.

"Chuwong died mainly from brain injuries but further examination was needed to determine how he had bruises around his eyes"

CSI translation:- he was bashed in the head by a couple of thugs, put into the car, car carefully crashed on the passenger side, car driver gets out, thugs make sure he's not going to live more than a few further minutes, their boss gets in (hence uninjured in any way), calls his fellow police friends.

As I understand it, Thai legal tradition relies much more on testimony and eye witnesses and typically relegates physical evidence to second class status. I may be misinformed or things may have changed since Dr. Porntip became a national celebrity. On the other hand despite her celebrity she's pretty weird and has some opinions stranger than the American Dr. Ben Carson. She has claimed that the Army's phony "explosive detectors" actually work, for example. Also I haven't seen her in the news for several years. Has she retired? Or was she too closely identified with Suthep?

I'm not sure "beneficiaries" is the proper term here? Oh, right, forgot this was Thailand.

Seems like they got their goodies "before" he died.

I suspect this poor chap was a "Weekend at Bernie's" stand-in before he was "helped" into the Lexus?

"Pol Colonel Pisit Thamsuriya, a doctor at the Police General Hospital". Never mind the story, this is even stranger. blink.png

You find it strange that a police pathologist has a rank? If you think about it is no more strange that teachers are ranked or indeed any other civil servants.

Didn't the drivers wife die in a very similar incident back in the late 80s?

While he was driving?

Unlucky guy, eh?

Red Bull boy - likely no justice

Koh Tao murders - likely no justice

Under age driver killing several - no justice

famous actor shooting friend caught on cctv - likely no justice

Girl raped and murdered in Chiang Mai - likely no justice

Angry guy drives car into bus queue - no justice

Most corrupt politicians and civil servants - no justice

Aussie lad seriously assaulted by American-Chinese rich thugs - no justice

Actress killing policeman by driving into his stationary car - likely no justice

This case - likely no justice.

Police - do as they like

Military - keep the status quo.

Incompetent investigations, leads deliberately covered up, evidence ignored, evidence fabricated, use of scapegoats or paid patsies, mysterious deaths and disappearances, police positions bought, lawyers and judges somewhat circumspect on occasion.

The only times I've read of real justice seemingly done was when the perpetrators were poor, unconnected, nobodies. If they are wealthy, connected, hiso, elite, celebrities, then the games start immediately. And the stories simply become clouded, far fetched, contradictory before some big cheese says that's how it is and everyone simply accepts it.

This country is like the ones you read about in stories of the 17th and 18th centuries. Thoroughly corrupt and no real law or justice. The majority are punished whereas the very privileged few will never be,

Thai TV shows the airbags deployed on drivers side but not on passengers - the passenger airbags were turned off, and no proof he was wearing a seat belt ............... well, he's dead, others will be rich and end up the same way soon, money will be redisributed and the whole case will disapear..............accidental my a$$, carefully planned is more like it. The key to survival in Thailand is never get rich, and if not rich, never be worth more dead than alive.

the car is barely impacted...no airbags ? no seatbelt ? no buddah amulet ?

anyway, do we even care ?

2 airbags, not activated. Airbags that a specialist has said activate if the impact is 40kmph....so the impact was quite slow.

So, a low speed impact such that the driver was unhurt but the victim received fatal brain damage.

Highly suspicious. I don't know how they can say he likely died in the accident.
