Birth certificate / paper work at hospital

Featured Replies

My girlfriend is currently pregnant and we will be having the birth at Bangkok Hospital in bkk. She is Thai and I am from the UK. I heard from a friend that the hospital will sort out the birth certificate and all the paperwork. He did say though that I have to write my name and the babies names in Thai not english? Is this correct? Or can I give them the names in English and they translate it for the birth certificate?

Any help is appreciated

My GF had our baby a few months ago. The hospital sorted out the birth certificate, but everything needs to be in Thai, including your name. Get it translated yourself, print it out and give it to the hospital to copy.

Ok thanks, well my next question is do you know a good translator?

You only have to translate your name and the child's name. I just used a translation website and checked it with Thais.

At Aek Udon International in Udon Thani I only provided my name and my sons name in English.

They did the translation, and for an extra fee provided an official English language birth certificate along with the regular Thai one.

Probably get a different service in every hospital, and depending on who you ask. TIT
