Youtube not working on Safari.

Featured Replies

I have a MacBook Pro with a 10.7.5 OS version and suddenly youtube became invisible. My software upgrade check shows I am up to date with software updates.

I can copy and paste all bookmarks on Safari and watch them on Opera, Firefox and Chrome.

I've upgraded adobe flash to the lastest version even just now but it doesn't matter.

Any ideas?

The OP's mac is working fine using other browsers, just not with Safari.

Watcharacters,

Can you elaborate on "suddenly youtube became invisible."? As in, YouTube page is blank, or YouTube inset video window is blank?

Check your Safari Extensions. Disable all of them, close the app and reopen and test.

Make sure your JAVA from ORACLE is up to date.

Have you tried doing a RESET from within Safari Settings?

It might possibly be an SSL issue with your browser. Check and make sure you have current certificates.

Some people report issues where IPv6 interferes. You could try disabling that. But this really sounds browser specific.

Most sites are pulling flash after the Hacking Team stuff. Upgrade everything and it should move to HTML5...also if you're on 10.7 - upgrade ? smile.png

Thanks one and all.

You nailed it RichCor but I'm afraid the cure is nearly as bad as the disease itself: the culprit was AdBlock® which is the bane of ad income generating websites. I guess I'll just have to make a choice with using AdBlock® or visiting some sites with up to "70" blocked ads on a single page, present company (site) excluded of course 555.

As I deleted the Safari extension I noticed it is also available on Chrome. In the past it was compatible with Youtube but apparently AdBlock® got blocked by youtube at least on Safari. I'll test it out to see how it works on Chrome.

Thanks again for the help.

You do realize that AdBlock works on a Site-by-Site basis, and when enabled you can adjust what does/doesn't get blocked?
