PATTAYA:--Construction will begin shortly on a new pedestrian bridge over Sukhumvit Road near Pattaya School No. 5 to replace one that must be demolished to make way for the Sukhumvit-Central Road bypass tunnel.

At a July 17 meeting, Deputy Mayor Ronakit Ekasingh met with the Provincial Electricity Authority, city engineers, tunnel contractors and others involved with the relocation of the footbridge.

The new structure will be located 3.7 meters from the old bridge, which must be demolished to make way for the new overpass.

A bridge will be destroyed so a tunnel can be completed.

You can't make this up.

" No exact date for the start of construction was given, but the project is estimated to take four months to complete."blink.png

huh ? 4 months for a pedestrian bridge? in this day and age of prefab structure should be able to be up and running in weeks?

I hope they will have 11" deep treads with a 6" or 7" rise the current bridge has baby size treads, making it dangerous for adults to walk down
