PM orders all ministries to help drought-hit farmers

BANGKOK, 1 August 2015 (NNT) - Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha says he has instructed all related ministries to map out ways to help people in drought-hit areas in a sustainable manner.

During the government’s weekly televised talk program, General Prayut disclosed that some provinces still have to struggle with drought crisis despite the coming of rainy season. He therefore instructed concerned agencies to spend their given budgets on digging more wells and improving irrigation systems in drought-prone provinces to prevent recurrence of a similar disaster.

Regarding the strict water-saving campaign, Gen Prayut reiterated that he never ignored low-income earners and famers. He explained government solutions were actually aimed at safeguarding all sectors, adding that a collapse in one sector can cause a domino effect on others.

The premier suggested that Thai people be prepared for such changes as natural disasters and an economic downturn so that they can be immune to all problems.

All ministries?

Exactly, what can TAT do other than release stats to show how many farming families supposedly went on holiday and how much they spent ?

By the way can they claim back from the govt as debt relief ? biggrin.png
