Government Slams Rainsy For Border Advice

PHNOM PENH (Khmer Times) – Government officials mocked opposition party leader Sam Rainsy and hit back against allegations that they are not doing enough to solve the issues concerning the border with Vietnam.

“I would like to confirm that the government has done many things more than what Mr. Rainsy advised us to,” Koy Pisey, deputy president of the Cambodia Joint-Border Committee, told Khmer Times.

“We have been using only the Bonne maps of Cambodia’s borders, which were made from French colonial maps, as the principle of demarcation and in line with Cambodian constitutional law,” Ms. Pisey said. “To date, we have demarcated border posts with Vietnam and covered 83 percent of the border.”
