Buying car - need advice

Featured Replies

I really need some advice with regard buying a car off my wife. I am separated from my wife but I would like to buy my old car off her. It is in her name. I would be grateful to know what paperwork/process of putting it in my name. I no longer have a marriage visa only tourist (although could get one at this time I spend 6 months in UK) because we are separated. She wants 250,000 bt for it which is OK but I don t want to transfer the money until I m sure it is legally owned by me.

You don't state how old the car is if it in her name she would have had some sort of duty reduced and therefore not allowed to sell on but gl .

BD what are you talking about? The OP did not say the vehicle had been a personal import or that it had been bought under the 1st time buyer discount scheme.

Pretty strait forward like anyone selling a car to anyone. Regardless of marriage.

But you will have to be here to sign papers (to be done at her local registering place)

You will have to pay a small tax after that once the paper work is signed it's yours.

Simple. Get her to find out what paper's are required prior to going though sorry cant offer you anything about those as they differ from place to place.
